How Can CRISPR-Cas9 Help Humans?

CRISPR Treatment is very effective in gene editing. CRISPR-Cas9 has been proven to benefit human beings in treating major genetic defects. The protein CAS9 Acts as a molecular scissor that can cut the defected DNA strands (Crawford, 2017). Gene editing has been made simple and easy by the CRISPR treatment. Many people are getting various health benefits by using this significant treatment.

Ways in Which CRISPR-Cas9 is Helping Humans

There are many ways in which CRISPR can help humans by eliminating a lot of diseases:

1. Ridding the World of Malaria

Scientists are determined that gene editing through Cas9 Can help them eliminate Malaria from mosquitoes. They said that it is possible to change the genetic DNA of the mosquitoes having Malaria.

Every year, a large number of people suffer from Malaria because it is so prevalent in mosquitoes. If scientists are successful in eliminating Malaria from the mosquitoes through CRISPR treatment, it can be very beneficial for humans. (Tina Hesman Saey, 2019)

2. Treating Many Viruses

Viruses can be very detrimental and sometimes even fatal to the human body. Through the CRISPR-Cas9 treatment, they can be eliminated on a larger scale. Viruses can negatively affect the quality of life whether short-term or long-term, which could be completely eradicated if this method overcomes most of the common viruses we face regularly.

There are many people who have weakened immune systems, susceptible to even mild versions of a virus. It is a great innovation for such people who have a weakened immune system, especially because this treatment has the potential to eliminate many viruses from the Earth (Crawford, 2017).

3. Development Of New Drugs

Many pharmaceutical companies manufacture CRISPR-based drugs. These drugs have proven to be beneficial in treating heart diseases, different types of blood disorders, and congenital diseases (Hesman Saey, 2019).

New drugs are always on the horizon because viruses and diseases are constantly evolving. This science will show significant results for advancements to overall human health.

4. Eliminating Crop Diseases

One of the other ways CRISPR-Cas9 can be helpful to human beings is that it can aid farmers in overcoming crop diseases (Hesman Saey, 2019). This country relies heavily on farmers to provide a large number of products which can sustain a large population. This is an effective method for taking care of both crops and livestock, which is good news to the people tending the crops and livestock on farms.

Diseases among livestock and crops cause major setbacks to farmers as it can lead to loss of production. If the productivity of crops and livestock is negatively impacted, the economy of the country can be affected greatly. CRISPR treatment can eliminate that risk making it even more beneficial to human beings (Crawford, 2017).

Final Thoughts:

CRISPR Treatment is a very effective method for gene editing, with multiple factors making it beneficial for human beings. This treatment has brought a revolution in the field of science and medicine.
